Former Stars Basketball athletes show out in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - Every summer, weeks after the NBA Draft, the National Basketball Association hosts the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the place for NBA fans from across the globe to see their team's draft picks in action for the first time, and it is also where some undrafted players can fight to make the team's training camp roster. This year the NBA Summer League took place from July 12–22 and featured 4 former Stars Basketball athletes played in games for 4 separate teams.

Ta’Lon Cooper is a native of Roebuck, South Carolina, played high school basketball at Dorman High School, and also competed for the Stars 3SSB team. After high school Ta’Lon signed with Morehead State University where he played his first 3 college seasons. In his 4th year, he transferred and played the 2022-23 season at the University of Minnesota. Ta’Lon then returned home to South Carolina and played his last college season at the University of South Carolina. Ta’Lon signed a Summer League contract with the Orlando Magic and played 2 of the team’s 5 games in Las Vegas. Ta’Lon’s statistics in each game are listed below.

PJ Hall is a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and competed on the Stars 3SSB team during his time with the club. After a decorated college career at Clemson University, PJ signed with the Denver Nuggets after the 2024 Draft and saw the floor in 4 out of 5 Summer League games. Dillon Jones is from Columbia, South Carolina, and played his high school basketball career at Keenan High School in Columbia, SC as well as Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas. Dillon also played for the Stars 3SSB team throughout high school. After graduating from Sunrise Christian in 2020 he took his talents to Weber State University. After a four-year college career at Weber State, Dillon was taken with the 26th overall pick in this year's NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder. Dillon played in only 2 of the 5 Summer League games, highlighted by his 17-point and 7-rebound performance versus the Toronto Raptors. Dillon’s statistics for each game are listed below.

Bryce McGowens is a native of Upstate South Carolina and played his high school basketball career at Wren High School in Piedmont, South Carolina then at Legacy Early College in Greenville, South Carolina. Bryce was picked with the 40th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets after a one-year career at the University of Nebraska. Bryce played 4 of the 5 Summer League games for the Portland Trail Blazers, highlighted by his 20-point outing versus the Philadelphia 76ers. Bryce’s statistics for each game are listed below.

Julian Phillips is a native of Blythewood, South Carolina, and played for Blythewood High School for a portion of his high school career as well as the Stars 3SSB team. Julian was drafted with the 35th overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics and was then traded to the Chicago Bulls where he played his first season. Julian played in 4 of the 5 Summer League games in Las Vegas, highlighted by his 21-point performance versus the Atlanta Hawks. His stats in each game are listed below.
